A driver has been hospitalised after their car plunged more than 10 metres off a mountain road and into a riverbed in Malaga province on Friday morning.
The accident happened on the MA-4105 road between Sedella and Canillas de Aceituno in the Axarquia area.
Emergency services were called after the vehicle veered off the roadway before crashing down an embankment and ending up in the riverbed below.
Firefighters from the Provincial Fire Consortium station in Velez-Malaga responded to the incident between 7.30am and 8.45am.
When crews arrived, the driver – the sole occupant of the vehicle – was still trapped inside the wrecked car.
Firefighters used a spinal board to safely extract the injured person before transferring them to waiting paramedics.

The victim was later taken to the Hospital de la Axarquia for treatment.
Images released from the scene show the badly damaged vehicle resting beside the river after the dramatic fall.
No further details have yet been released.
