Renfe is adding extra low-cost Avlo services between Madrid and Malaga this summer to cope with increased demand during the peak season.
The rail operator will introduce two additional return services each week, running on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between August 4 and September 9.
Tickets start from €9 each way, although Renfe says the promotional fare is subject to limited availability. Children’s tickets will continue to cost €5.
The additional Madrid-bound and Malaga-bound services are already on sale through Renfe’s usual booking channels.
The new train from Madrid Puerta de Atocha will depart at 10.35am, arriving at Malaga Maria Zambrano at 1.49pm.
In the opposite direction, the service will leave Malaga at 2.22pm, reaching Madrid at 5.36pm.
Both journeys will take approximately three hours and 14 minutes.
The trains will also stop at Villanueva de Cordoba, Puente Genil-Herrera and Antequera Santa Ana, providing additional travel options for passengers in those areas.
Tickets can be purchased via the Renfe website and app, at station ticket offices and self-service machines, through travel agencies, or by calling Renfe’s sales line.
The extra services come as thousands of holidaymakers travel between the Costa del Sol and the Spanish capital during one of the busiest periods of the year.
Renfe has advised passengers hoping to secure the €9 promotional fares to book early, as the cheapest tickets are available in limited numbers.
