A Danish man has been arrested after allegedly being caught carrying a hand grenade in a residential area of Mijas.
Local police detained the suspect on Friday night in the El Faro de Calaburras urbanisation, according to reports first published by ABC.
He was reportedly found with the grenade in an area of villas near La Cala de Mijas, with easy access to the A-7 motorway.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an explosive device.
The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation.
No further details were provided about the grenade’s condition or why the suspect allegedly had it.
