Wine, chestnuts and traditional mountain cooking will take centre stage in Yunquera this weekend as the village celebrates its Feria del Vino y la Castaña.
The event runs on October 24 and 25, combining food tastings, live music, countryside walks and local crafts in the Sierra de las Nieves.
Home to around 2,800 people, Yunquera will pay tribute to two products closely associated with its landscape: chestnuts and mosto, the young local wine.
Saturday begins with walks through the surrounding chestnut groves and vineyards, alongside a guided tour of the historic village centre.
Following the official opening, the municipal band will lead a street parade, with entertainment throughout the day including flamenco dancing, singers and live bands.
Visitors can sample chicharrones, olives and local wine, as well as buñuelos served with chocolate.
Sunday’s programme features the Ronda a Caballo equestrian show, led by David Chaves with Pilar Ortiz, followed by traditional grape treading accompanied by a verdiales folk group.
There will also be free tastings of Yunquera’s mosto and malcocinao, a traditional local dish, before performances by Long Play and Orquesta Arrayan.

The festival, recognised by Malaga’s provincial authority as an event of special tourist interest, will also have an area dedicated to crafts and other stalls.
For visitors making a day of it, Yunquera offers access to the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, which received its protected status in 2021.
The surrounding mountains are particularly known for their pinsapo forests, home to the rare Spanish fir.
Among their most distinctive specimens is the Pinsapo Candelabro, named for its trunk dividing into six large branches.
