A tourist who suffered a heart attack while holidaying in Nerja has been saved thanks to the quick actions of the town’s lifeguard service.
The incident happened on Sunday morning at Carabeillo beach, where the visitor suddenly collapsed while enjoying a day by the sea.
According to Nerja Town Hall, lifeguards rushed to the scene after being alerted to the emergency and immediately began life-saving treatment.
The team used a defibrillator to revive the tourist before emergency medical services arrived.
Local officials said the rapid response and professionalism of the lifeguards proved crucial in saving the man’s life.
In a statement, the council praised the emergency team for their exemplary actions and thanked members of the town’s beach surveillance and rescue service for their dedication and commitment.
The incident has highlighted the importance of having trained personnel and life-saving equipment available on Spain’s beaches, particularly during the busy summer season when coastal resorts welcome thousands of visitors every day.
