Fierce winds are blowing along the Costa del Sol today in the wake of Storm Francis.

A weather alert has been issued by state weather agency Aemet, warning of gusts of up to 70km/hr.

The yellow-level alert, meaning the danger level is ‘low’, is in place until 6pm on Tuesday.

It stretches across the whole Costa del Sol, encompassing Manilva, Estepona, Marbella, Fuengirola, Mijas, Malaga and Nerja.

A yellow alert for rough sea conditions is also in place along the coast over the same period.

Aemet is warning of force 7 winds and gales of 60km/hr.

It comes as pictures shared online from Mijas show trees uprooted, with one having crushed a car.

In Fuengirola, a building was filmed severely damaged by the gales.
