This deserted glass house in Granada offers the perfect escape for stargazers

The Casa de Cristal in Granada

In the heart of the Granada desert, a glass-walled hideaway sits surrounded by dramatic badlands, silence and stars.

Set in the municipality of Gorafe, this extraordinary accommodation feels more like a film set than a holiday rental.

Is this Andalucia’s most striking castle? Why this ancient inland town is definitely worth a visit

Rising unexpectedly from the arid landscape of the Granada Geopark, the modern glass structure contrasts sharply with the rugged, prehistoric terrain that surrounds it.

Often described as a luxury ‘glamping’ experience, the Casa de Cristal is designed for total immersion in nature.

The accommodation consists of three glass modules, creating a compact living space of around 20 square metres.

Inside, guests will find a double bed, a private bathroom with shower, basic kitchen equipment and a fridge – everything needed for a comfortable stay, without unnecessary distractions.

The simplicity is intentional. With no surrounding buildings, traffic or light pollution, the experience is about isolation, stillness and connection with the landscape.

Many guests describe the sensation as being ‘on another planet’, particularly at night when the desert sky fills with stars.

During the warmer months, visitors can also enjoy a salt-water pool, making it possible to swim under the night sky.

The area’s lack of artificial light makes it a favourite for stargazers and astrotourism enthusiasts, while the house itself is energy self-sufficient and equipped with Wi-Fi, allowing year-round stays.

Thanks to its glass walls, the house offers uninterrupted panoramic views of the Granada Geopark – a vast natural area shaped over millions of years. The surrounding valley is also home to hundreds of prehistoric dolmens, evidence of human presence dating back thousands of years.

According to the property’s official website, prices start at €250 per night (plus VAT) for two people from Monday to Thursday, rising to €350 per night (plus VAT) at weekends. Breakfast is included in all stays.

Optional extras include a private dinner for €90 per day and guided 4×4 excursions priced at €100. The accommodation is strictly for two adults only, with no children or pets permitted. Check-in is from 2pm, with check-out by 11am.
