Estepona is celebrating after completing around 20km of its coastal pathway (Senda Litoral) project.

Video footage shared by the town hall shows locals beaming with pride as they gush about the picturesque route, which is dotted with trees and gardens.

The path is part of the longer Senda Litoral which aims to run across the entire Costa del Sol without interruptions.

Works are still needed to complete the connections but there are huge stretches in Estepona, Marbella and Mijas.

The town hall said: ‘Estepona now has more than 20km of continuously connected coastal paths.

‘From now on, we can travel the distance between the Elba Hotel and the Benamara area via pedestrian paths.’

Locals commenting on the video praised the ‘beautiful’ and ‘tranquil’ path, although some had complaints.

One wrote: ‘The walk is very pretty, but please… I’d appreciate it if those traveling in vehicles know that pedestrians have right of way, and that this isn’t a race track.’
