This is the moment more than a tonne of cocaine hidden inside a coconut shipment was intercepted in Sevilla.

Footage shared by the Guardia Civil shows the force rumbling the unloading of the illicit cargo from a lorry at a warehouse in Dos Hermanas.

Working alongside Spain’s Tax Agency, they seized a staggering 1,238kg of cocaine during the operation.

The investigation began in December 2025 after authorities detected a company based in Dos Hermanas, just outside Sevilla, which they suspected could be being used to bring drugs into Spain.

Investigators subsequently began monitoring a suspicious shipping container.

Cocaine hidden beneath coconuts

Officers intercepted the container as a lorry driver was preparing to deliver its cargo to a warehouse.

A search revealed the huge cocaine haul concealed among a legitimate shipment of coconuts.

According to the Guardia Civil, the drugs had been placed at the rear of the lorry’s trailer and hidden underneath the pallets carrying the fruit.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.

Officers also searched two properties in Sevilla province, where they seized cash and electronic devices described by investigators as being of ‘great evidential value.’

Authorities have not disclosed the amount of money recovered or the identities and nationalities of those arrested.

The investigation remains ongoing and the Guardia Civil said further arrests have not been ruled out.
