Two French tourists have been killed after their motorbike crashed into a barrier on the A-7 motorway on the Costa del Sol.
The woman, 21, and the 30-year-old man were travelling through Velez-Malaga on Wednesday night when tragedy struck.
According to medical sources cited by local newspaper Malaga Hoy, both were visiting Spain from France.
Emergency services received the first call at around 6.10pm, reporting that a motorbike had collided with the crash barrier.
Callers reported that two people had been seriously injured in the collision.
A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene alongside Guardia Civil officers and paramedics.
However, despite their best efforts, the pair could not be saved.
No further details have been provided about what caused the motorbike to leave the road or whether any other vehicles were involved.
Just hours later, emergency services were called to another serious road accident in Velez-Malaga.
At around 8.45pm, several members of the public contacted 112 after two cars collided on Calle Cristo del Cerro.
Emergency workers treated five people – three men aged 21, 65 and 66 and two women aged 62 and 64.
All five were taken to Hospital de La Axarquia for treatment.
Firefighters reported that one of the vehicles involved had plunged down a ravine with four people inside.
