A manhunt is on for the suspected killer of a 45-year-old Hungarian woman in Benahavis.
The victim was found stabbed to death and with a cut to her neck inside a home in the Las Jacarandas urbanisation in Los Arqueros on Tuesday morning.
In un update on Wednesday, minister Pedro Fernandez said there is ‘absolutely no indication’ that the killing was an act of gender violence.
Investigators from the Guardia Civil have now identified a suspect following a statement from the victim’s daughter and are carrying out searches to locate him.
Fernandez confirmed that the suspect knew the victim but was neither her current nor former partner, adding that investigators are working to establish the motive and arrest him as soon as possible.
Witnesses told police they heard a loud scream before discovering there was a large amount of blood inside the property.
They also reported seeing a man leave the scene hurriedly in a car shortly afterwards.
The Guardia Civil investigation continues.
