A Belgian man has been arrested after allegedly deliberately running over a woman at a campsite on the Costa Blanca before fleeing the scene.
The incident happened on Friday afternoon at Camping Palm-Mar in Guardamar del Segura, where police believe the man intentionally struck the woman with his car following an argument.
The suspect fled in a vehicle with Belgian licence plates, prompting an alert to police forces across the area.
The Guardia Civil is investigating the incident as a suspected case of gender-based violence.
Emergency medical teams treated the victim at the scene before she was taken for further treatment.
According to initial medical assessments, she suffered a broken leg.
Officers from Guardamar Local Police and the Guardia Civil launched an immediate search for the suspect, while neighbouring police forces were notified of the getaway vehicle.
The man was eventually tracked down by Santa Pola Local Police on the N-332 near Gran Alacant, where he was stopped and arrested.
