A cannabis club has been shut down in Alicante after allegedly selling drugs to tourists illegally.
Five men and one woman, aged between 22 and 50, were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and membership of a criminal organisation following a Policia Nacional investigation.
According to officers, the premises in Denia were officially registered with the Valencian regional government as a cannabis association dedicated to naturism and alternative medicine.
However, investigators allege it was actually being used as a front to sell drugs to anyone who walked through the door.
The investigation began after police received reports of suspected drug dealing at the premises, where officers observed a constant stream of people entering and leaving after only a few minutes.
Surveillance revealed that customers were able to buy cannabis products without being members of the association, with many of those visiting the club identified as foreign tourists spending their holidays in Denia.
Police said the club had already come under investigation in 2025 and was allegedly continuing to operate using the same methods.
After gathering evidence, officers obtained a court warrant to search the premises.
During the raid, police seized 2.1kg of marijuana buds, just over 1kg of hashish, 601 marijuana joints and €670 in cash.
Two employees who were working at the club during the search were arrested at the scene. Investigators allege they were responsible for opening and closing the premises and supplying drugs to customers.
The investigation later led to the arrest of four more people, including the association’s president and secretary, along with two additional employees.
All six suspects have been accused of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal group, with the case now passed to the investigating courts in Denia.
