A toddler has died after drowning in the bath at her family home in Alora.
The girl, who was under two years old, was rushed to the Hospital Valle del Guadalhorce in nearby Cartama after suffering cardiac arrest, but doctors were unable to save her life.
According to initial reports, the incident happened while the child’s parents were bathing her at their home.
A brief lapse of attention is believed to have occurred, and moments later they realised she was drowning.
The parents immediately took the girl to a local health centre, where medics assessed her condition before arranging an emergency transfer to hospital.
Despite efforts by medical staff, she died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation into the incident, although early indications suggest it was a devastating accident.
The tragedy comes amid repeated warnings from child safety experts that very young children can drown in just a few centimetres of water and within seconds if left unattended.
