A 17-year-old boy has died after suffering an electric shock while leaving a swimming pool in Sevilla.
Jose Luis Lopez, from the town of Gelves, died on Saturday after receiving a powerful electric discharge shortly after getting out of the water.
The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation into the tragedy and is seeking to determine which electrical element the teenager may have come into contact with.
The town hall of Gelves has offered its condolences to his family and friends.
In a statement, the local authority described the incident as a ‘sad loss’ for the community and announced the suspension of several upcoming municipal events, including the town’s fourth Flamenco Festival.
On Sunday, the council declared three days of official mourning, running until Tuesday.

Flags at the town hall will fly at half-mast during the mourning period.
According to Spanish news agency EFE, the Judicial Police of Mairena has taken charge of the investigation and is awaiting the results of the autopsy.
Investigators are expected to examine the pool area and any nearby electrical installations as they work to establish exactly how the fatal shock occurred.
