A horror wrong-way crash caused chaos on the A-7 motorway near Marbella overnight.
The serious collision happened before the Estepona toll area after a vehicle reportedly entered the carriageway driving in the opposite direction to traffic.
According to early witness reports from the scene, the car crashed head-on into several vehicles travelling correctly along the coastal route.
Dashcam footage shared on social media reportedly showed the moment the so-called ‘kamikaze’ car zoomed down the road in the wrong direction.
Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after the incident, with paramedics, police and traffic officers working to assist the injured and secure the motorway.
The full extent of casualties has not yet been confirmed, although witnesses at the scene reported fears that people may have been killed in the impact.
Three lanes remain closed into the early hours of the morning, causing major disruption along the Costa del Sol corridor.
Drivers were urged to avoid the affected section of the A-7 and instead divert through central Marbella until traffic conditions returned to normal.
