A SPANISH man has been found partially devoured by his dog after dying alone inside his home.

The man, aged in his 70s, was discovered inside his apartment in the Arganzuela district of Madrid on Tuesday (street pictured above).

The grisly find was made by firefighters and police after neighbours reported hearing the ‘constant whining’ of his German shepherd, named Rocky.

According to Europa Press, the deceased is thought to have died of natural causes earlier this month.

Neighbours said the man, named only as Antonio, did not have a good relationship with his family.

They decided to call the authorities after not seeing him for ‘several days’ and noticing an accumulation of dog poo in the building’s courtyard.

Witnesses told El Mundo that Antonio was a popular figure in the neighbourhood and was often seen in the local bars.

Firefighters forced their way into his home to discover him dead and laying on the ground.

His face and parts of his body had been eaten by the dog, who would have been starving after not being fed for days on end.

Police said Antonio died of natural causes and that there was no suspicion of criminality in relation to his death.

Rocky kept himself hydrated by drinking rainwater that collected in containers in the courtyard. He has been taken to a local animal shelter.
