Passengers travelling from Almeria to Granada faced a double delay on Thursday after their train broke down and its replacement bus had to wait for a driver.
The Media Distancia service was unable to leave Huercal-Viator station because of technical problems, according to an affected passenger who documented the disruption on X.
At around 9.40am, the passenger said the conductor announced an initial delay of at least 10 minutes.
A further announcement at 9.55am explained that staff would carry out one final test before arranging road transport if the train could not run.
The checks proved unsuccessful, and passengers were told the service would not depart.
Renfe arranged a replacement bus to Granada, but boarding it did not bring an immediate end to the wait.
‘The bus has arrived with one driver, and now we’re all sitting on it waiting for a different driver to come and take us to our destination,’ the passenger wrote at 10.37am.
The traveller estimated that they would reach Granada at least 90 minutes later than originally scheduled.
It comes amid increased scrutiny of the train networks in Andalucia following two disasters in nine months that has left more than 110 people dead.
