This is the moment a drug mule was found with more than 100 cocaine capsules inside his body at Sevilla airport.
The 51-year-old, who had travelled from Guinea-Conakry via Morocco, has been jailed for attempting to smuggle almost 1.5kg of the drug.
He was stopped by the Policia Nacional after officers noticed him ‘acting suspiciously’.
The arrest formed part of Operation Conakry, which targeted drug trafficking routes into Spain through Sevilla’s international airport.
Police arranged for the passenger to be taken to hospital, where he underwent a series of X-rays.
The scans revealed more than 100 capsules concealed inside his body.
He remained in hospital under medical supervision while the capsules were expelled, before tests confirmed that they contained cocaine.
The practice of swallowing or inserting packages of drugs rectally for transportation is particularly dangerous because a ruptured capsule can release a potentially fatal quantity of narcotics into the body.
Once the medical procedure and police investigation were completed, the suspect was brought before a judge.
He was remanded in custody on suspicion of drug trafficking while judicial proceedings continue.
