If you’re looking to rent in Spain without paying Costa del Sol prices, a new study has revealed that eight towns in Andalucia are among the 25 cheapest places in the country.
The research by property portal Idealista found that Baeza, in Jaen province, is officially Spain’s cheapest town to rent, with average asking rents of just €5.20 per square metre per month.
That means a typical 100sqm home would cost around €520 a month – almost 62% below Andalucia’s regional average.
Joining Baeza in the national top 25 are:
- Baeza (Jaen) – €5.20/sqm
- Ubeda (Jaen) – €6.50/sqm
- Lucena (Cordoba) – €6.50/sqm
- Linares (Jaen) – €6.70/sqm
- Ogijares (Granada) – €7.30/sqm
- Motril (Granada) – €7.60/sqm
- La Zubia (Granada) – €7.60/sqm
- Ronda (Malaga) – €7.70/sqm
The findings show that inland Andalucia continues to offer some of Spain’s best-value rental markets despite rising prices across much of the country.
Baeza stands out as the biggest bargain, with rents 61.7% below the Andalucian average, while Ubeda and Lucena are both 52% cheaper than the regional norm.
The inclusion of Ronda may surprise many, given its international reputation as one of Spain’s most spectacular historic towns, famous for its dramatic gorge, ancient bridge and whitewashed old quarter.
Despite its popularity with tourists, average rents remain well below the regional average.
The ranking also highlights the affordability of Granada province outside the capital, with Ogijares, Motril and La Zubia all making the national top 25.
The study was based on Idealista’s rental price report for the second quarter of 2026, using only municipalities with enough available rental listings to produce statistically reliable data.
Across Andalucia as a whole, the average asking rent now stands at €13.50 per square metre, meaning every Andalucian town in the ranking is at least 43% cheaper than the regional average.
