A landlord has been killed allegedly by one of his tenants in Malaga in the city’s second violent death in just 24 hours.
The 60-year-old victim died after an alleged altercation inside a shared property in the Miraflores de los Angeles neighbourhood on Tuesday afternoon.
The Policia Nacional have arrested a 46-year-old man who was living in the property alongside the victim and two other tenants.
Investigators believe an argument between the pair turned violent inside the flat on Calle Carraca.
According to police sources, the victim’s body showed signs of severe facial trauma and possible asphyxiation, although a full autopsy is still pending.
Emergency services were alerted after a call to the 091 control room reported a violent dispute between housemates.
Paramedics arrived at the property but could do nothing to save the victim, who was found dead with clear signs of violence.
The judicial protocol for violent deaths was immediately activated, while homicide detectives and forensic officers carried out an extensive examination of the apartment.
Police say the suspect allegedly confessed to the killing at the scene.
He remains in police custody as investigations continue.
The killing comes less than a day after another fatal stabbing in Malaga’s Palma-Palmilla district.
In that case, a 29-year-old Moroccan man died after being stabbed in the chest in the street on Monday evening.
Witnesses alerted emergency services at around 8pm after the victim was attacked on Calle Concejal Pedro Ruiz García.
He was rushed to Malaga Regional Hospital but later died from his injuries.
Police are still searching for the suspected attacker in that case, with one line of investigation reportedly focusing on a possible dispute linked to unpaid rent.
