The hugely popular Huelva Seafood and Prawn Fair has been postponed after forecasters warned a storm system heading for Andalucia this weekend will bring heavy rain across the province.
Organisers of the XI Feria de la Gamba y el Marisco de Huelva 2026 confirmed the event will now take place from May 15 to 17, instead of this weekend, due to the threat of widespread downpours.
According to state weather agency Aemet, there is a 100% chance of rain in Huelva province between Friday and Sunday, with the incoming weather front expected to bring unsettled conditions and a sharp drop in temperatures across parts of Andalucía.
The fair is one of Huelva’s best-known gastronomic events and celebrates the province’s prized seafood industry, particularly its famous prawns and shellfish.
Despite the delay, organisers say the event’s food offering will remain unchanged, with visitors able to enjoy plates of prawns, fried fish, cuttlefish and other seafood dishes for €8 each.
Local wines from the Condado region and cheeses from across the province will also be on offer.
Last year’s edition proved hugely popular, with around 800 kilos of seafood reportedly sold in just two days.

One of the major additions for 2026 will be a stronger charitable focus, with two special fundraising dishes being introduced during the fair.
A seafood paella will be served on the Friday, followed by chickpeas with king prawns on the Saturday, with both dishes costing just €2. All proceeds will go towards the Patio del Amor children’s hospitalisation unit at Huelva’s Juan Ramon Jimenez Hospital.
The dishes will be prepared by students from the Virgen de Belen Hospitality School using donated products supplied by the Association of Exporters.
The event will also feature live music and DJ performances throughout the weekend, including sets from Gloria Bendita, Baron Brandy and Aflamenk2s.
The fair will once again be held at Huelva’s Ciudad del Marisco venue, located near the bridge leading towards Punta Umbria, with free parking available for visitors.
Local authorities have described the event as an important showcase for Huelva’s seafood sector, gastronomy and tourism industry.
