A devastating fire has torn through a candle shop`in the Las Albarizas industrial estate in Marbella.

Footage shared online showed huge plumes of black smoke billowing out from the Velas de la Ballena shop on Calle Hierro on Thursday.

Marbella firefighters raced to the scene and have already extinguished the worst of the inferno.

The town hall said in a statement: ‘The Marbella City Council’s Emergency Services extinguished a fire this morning in a warehouse in the La Ermita Industrial Park, on Calle Hierro.

‘More than 20 firefighters and six fire engines participated in the operation.

‘The rapid response of the emergency services, which also included members of the Local Police and Civil Protection, prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring warehouses.

‘Firefighters remain on site carrying out mop-up operations.

‘Information continues to grow as the operation continues on Calle Hierro, where the affected shop is located.’

There are not believed to be any serious injuries.
