A teenage boy is fighting for his life after suffering a horror go-kart crash in Tenerife.

The 15-year-old was racing in Las Eras, in the town of Arico, on Sunday night when the incident occurred.

A call was made to the 112 emergency number at around 8pm.

Two ambulances rushed to the scene, flanked by two teams from the Policia Local and Guardia Civil.

The boy was treated and stabilised before being taken to the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital.

The Guardia Civil are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
