A woman has been stabbed to death in Benidorm before her body was found dumped in a nearby countryside.

The victim, believed to be around 33, was allegedly killed by her partner during an argument at their home.

Two men are accused of helping remove the body and transport it about a 20-minute drive away to Finestrat.

The case emerged when the two ‘helpers’ walked into Benidorm’s Policia Nacional station to give up their friend.

They claimed an acquaintance had told them he had killed his girlfriend with a knife.

They said they went to his home to check whether he was telling the truth and discovered the woman’s body inside.

According to their account, the alleged killer then threatened them into helping him dispose of it.

One of the men allegedly supplied the vehicle, while the other helped move the body before it was abandoned in a rural area between Benidorm and Finestrat.

Using the information they provided, officers found the woman’s remains and arrested her partner shortly afterwards at his home.

The two men who reported the killing were also arrested on suspicion of covering up the crime. Police said the three suspects are aged 30, 40 and 45.

The victim has not yet been formally identified.

Police are treating the death as a suspected gender violence killing. Checks have established that there were no previous complaints involving the couple.

All three men are expected to appear before a court in Benidorm in the coming hours.
