A 30-year-old man has died after a collision between a jet ski and a boat in waters off Fuengirola on Thursday afternoon.
The fatal accident happened near the town’s harbour and triggered a major emergency response, but medics were ultimately unable to save the victim.
According to Andalucía’s 112 emergency service, the alarm was raised at around 5.53pm, when witnesses reported a collision involving a jet ski and a vessel and requested urgent assistance.
Emergency operators dispatched multiple services to the scene, including the Guardia Civil, Local Police, Red Cross, municipal beach lifeguards and medical teams from the Andalucian Health Service.
Despite the rapid response, paramedics were only able to confirm the man’s death at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released details about how the collision occurred or whether anyone else was injured in the incident.
The Guardia Civil has opened an investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash, which took place in waters near Fuengirola’s marina.
