A person has been struck by a Cercanias train near Torreblanca in Fuengirola.
The incident occurred on Monday night and forced the suspension of services between Fuengirola and Benalmadena.
Renfe confirmed the incident through its passenger information channels.
The person’s condition and identity, along with the circumstances of the incident, had not been disclosed at the time of publishing.
The disruption affected the final stretch of the C-1 commuter line connecting Malaga city with the western Costa del Sol.
Policia Nacional officers were pictured attending the scene.
Images shared online showed a train stationary on the tracks and several officers working near a platform and tunnel entrance.
The suspension disrupted journeys home for passengers returning from work.
Some travellers claimed they had been required to leave their train without being offered alternative transport to complete their journeys.
They complained that no replacement buses or taxis had been provided, leaving them struggling to get home.
