A group of British friends are preparing to take on an extraordinary challenge by running the entire length of Spain in just under a week to raise money for three life-changing health charities.
The team plans to cover around 1,400km from the country’s northernmost point in Galicia all the way down to Tarifa in Cadiz – non-stop.
They have launched a fundraising page with all proceeds going to three health charities close to their hearts. Click here to donate.
A relentless relay across Spain
Rather than running together, the group will operate as a continuous relay.
At any given time, one of them will be running while the others manage navigation, food, logistics and recovery – all while living out of a campervan.
They aim to complete the challenge in just five to six days, meaning each runner will cover roughly 35 to 40km per day – the equivalent of a marathon – with minimal sleep and constant physical strain.

There’s little room for error.
‘If someone breaks down, the relay has to keep moving,’ they explain, highlighting the intensity of what lies ahead, from mountain terrain to coastal roads in a matter of days.
Running for causes close to home
The challenge isn’t about athletic glory.
The group say they are not professional athletes, just friends determined to raise awareness and funds for causes that have directly affected their lives.
Money raised will go to:
- Alzheimer’s Society
- Crohn’s & Colitis UK
- Target Ovarian Cancer
Each charity represents a personal story.

The fundraiser explains: ‘Alex’s (middle right) father and Brett’s (second far right) soon-to-be father-in-law, Graham, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in November 2024. He has embraced the diagnosis, taking it as it comes and continues to approach life day-by-day despite the challenges it has brought for him and for those around him.
‘Alzheimer’s affects the whole family, and there is currently no cure. While much remains unknown, better support, care, and research make a real difference for families living with the condition.
‘Toby’s (middle) twin brother Harry was diagnosed with Crohns at just 10 years old. It’s a cruel and chronic disease that affects the whole digestive track causing acute pain and inflammation.
‘Fast forward to today he’s had 2 major surgeries to remove parts of his bowel. It’s been an incredibly challenging journey but one that he deals with admirably. Crohns and Colitus UK continually fund research to find better treatments and hopefully one day find a cure.
‘Finally, Oli’s (far left) girlfriend’s mother Janet, is currently bravely taking on her third battle with ovarian cancer. Having been first diagnosed in 2021, her strength and positivity throughout has been incredible.
‘Ovarian cancer has also affected other families within our close friendship circle, reminding us how common this disease is and why better awareness and research matter so much.’
How to support
The team is asking for donations of any size, as well as help spreading the word.
They’ll also be sharing updates and hosting events in the lead-up to the challenge, giving supporters the chance to follow their journey step by step.
