Buckets of snow have fallen on Andalucia amid a sharp temperature drop brought on by Storm Claudia.

The picturesque scenes were captured in the mountains of Granada on Friday, in good news for skiers in the region.

Granada is home to the Sierra Nevada ski resort in Pradollano, the only resort of its kind in southern Spain.

In a post on X, the resort said on Friday: ‘Good morning from Sierra Nevada, the station continues to be covered in white.’

The slopes are set to open on November 29, 2025 and close on April 26, 2026, three weeks later than most other major ski areas in Spain and Andorra – including Baqueira Beret, Formigal and Grandvalira.

The dates were shared in October by Cetursa, the public company that manages the resort, with the usual caveat that they’re subject to change depending on snow and weather conditions.

The good news of healthy snow in Granada came as Storm Claudia continued to wreak havoc elsewhere in the region.

The Atlantic storm caused local flooding in Huelva, Sevilla and elsewhere, with at least five provinces on alert for severe rain and wind over the weekend.
