This is the heartbreaking moment a young man tells his grandmother that he is moving to Spain for work and will not see her for several months.

The clip was shared by TikTok creator Gian Luca Pugliese (@gianlucapugliesee) at the weekend and has gone viral around the Spanish-speaking world.

It shows the young man from Argentina speaking to his very frail grandmother, with their faces just inches away from one another.

Gian Luca tells her: ‘On Sunday, I’m leaving for Spain to work. I’ll be gone for many months.’

She seems confused and asks why, to which he says: ‘Are you going to wait for me?’

The visibly emotional grandmother then replies: ‘I hope to see you again, if God gives me life’, before asking again why he must leave.

‘To work at whatever I can, to make money; this country can’t do any more,’ he replies.

The elderly woman then bursts into tears as she says: ‘I’m going to miss you’, before Gian Luca, also crying, kisses her on her forehead, before promising he will ‘come back’.

Gian Luca wrote in the caption of the video: ‘I recorded it just to keep it as a memory. I wasn’t planning on uploading it, but I think it captures exactly how I feel today: scared, sad, happy, anxious, and uncertain about my future.

‘But also knowing that growing up means leaving your comfort zone. All I hope for is being able to give you a kiss and a hug again.’

The video has gone viral and has more than 15 million ‘likes’ on TikTok.
