A murder suspect allegedly told police that they ‘had nothing on him’ because he had watched crime dramas including CSI and Dexter.

The comments were made by the prime suspect in the killing of Francisco Jose Aguera, whose skull was discovered inside a plastic bag in a drainage chamber in Alhaurin de la Torre last year.

Aguera disappeared during the Covid lockdown in 2020, but it was not until January 2026 that forensic experts confirmed the remains belonged to him, sparking a murder inquiry by the Guardia Civil.

According to El Pais, detectives focused on interviewing people close to the victim, including the man now accused of murdering him.

During questioning, the 65-year-old initially denied any involvement and reportedly boasted about his knowledge of police investigations.

‘I didn’t do it. You have nothing against me. And I know you can’t prove it because I have plenty of free time and I’ve watched CSI and lots of other police series,’ he allegedly said.

He is also said to have referred directly to the serial killer drama Dexter, in which the main character disposes of his victims by dismembering them and scattering their remains.

After continued questioning, the suspect confessed to the killing before leading officers to several locations where parts of Aguera’s body had been hidden.

One of the sites was a cave that reportedly took investigators around five hours to locate.

The Guardia Civil is continuing to search the area around Alhaurin de la Torre for more human remains, both to complete the investigation and to recover as much of the victim as possible.

The motive for the alleged murder has not yet been disclosed.
