A man has been arrested over the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old shooting survivor and wheelchair user at his home in Mijas.
The suspect, identified only by the initial Y., was detained in the early hours of Tuesday over his connection to the death of Ayoub, according to local newspaper Area Costa del Sol.
Few details have yet emerged about the arrest or the precise role investigators suspect the detainee played in the killing.
Ayoub died after being stabbed in the chest at a property in the Mijas Golf area on August 10.
The Guardia Civil was alerted to a knife attack at the home late that afternoon and sent several patrols to the scene.
However, by the time officers arrived, the victim had already been taken to the Costa del Sol Hospital in a private vehicle after suffering significant blood loss.
A friend who regularly visited Ayoub is reported to have found him seriously injured at his home before putting him in a car and rushing him to hospital, where he later died.
Previous shooting
Ayoub had already survived an attempt on his life almost four years earlier.
On October 22, 2022, he was shot after having dinner at an establishment in the Dona Lola complex in Calahonda.
According to accounts gathered at the time, a gunman dressed in black and with much of his face concealed approached Ayoub and two friends as they headed towards their vehicles.
The attacker allegedly fired at least six shots, with four bullets striking Ayoub in the shoulder and back before the gunman fled on a scooter.

One of the bullets damaged his spine and affected movement in the lower half of his body, leaving him reliant on a wheelchair.
Investigators considered several possible motives for that shooting, including whether it could have been a settling of scores.
Violent history
Ayoub himself had previously been arrested in connection with several serious incidents.
In July 2020, he was detained after stabbing his stepfather and barricading himself inside a home while armed.
Then, in May 2023, after the shooting had left him using a wheelchair, he barricaded himself inside another property in Mijas with a handgun after a relative reported that he was armed and making threats.
During the police operation, he fired at members of the Guardia Civil’s elite Rapid Action Group (GAR), hitting one officer in the foot, before being arrested.
