This is the moment a chiringuito became engulfed by flames after a reported explosion inside the premises.
The blaze broke out at Sotavento chiringuito, at the beginning of Playa Victoria near Calle Marianista Cubillo, at around 9am Monday.
Local Police and firefighters rushed to the scene and began tackling the flames.
A security guard who was working the night shift was still at the beach club when the incident occurred.
He told local media that at around 9am he heard a ‘loud explosion’ before the fire broke out around the bar area.
The flames quickly spread and also damaged part of the terrace.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze by around 9.30am, approximately half an hour after it began.
There were no reported injuries but the incident caused significant material damage to the chiringuito.
The exact cause remains under investigation, although initial enquiries suggest the fire may have been caused by a fault in the electrical panel.
The incident also forced authorities to temporarily close traffic along this section of Cadiz’s Paseo Maritimo while emergency crews carried out their work.
