A missing cat has been reunited with its overjoyed owners after firefighters rescued it from inside the engine of a car in Benalmadena.
The cheeky feline, named Nuby, had been missing for several days before ending up trapped inside the vehicle’s engine bay.
After being unable to free the cat themselves, the owners called Benalmadena Fire Brigade, who carefully dismantled the vehicle before safely pulling the frightened animal to safety.
Photos released by the firefighters show Nuby being gently lifted from the engine by a rescuer before being wrapped in a blanket and returned to its emotional owners.
One image captures the family’s delight as the cat is finally brought home, while another shows the blue-eyed feline safe and unharmed after its ordeal.
In a statement shared on social media, Benalmadena Fire Brigade said: ‘We attended the rescue of Nuby, a cat that had become trapped inside the engine of a vehicle.
‘Nuby had been missing for several days and is now safe and well.’
The owners also thanked the firefighters for their quick response, writing: ‘Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the firefighters for your speed, your help and your fantastic work.
‘Without your help, we would never have managed it.’
The rescue is another reminder for motorists to check under the bonnet or tap on the hood before starting their cars, particularly during hot weather, when cats often climb into warm engine compartments seeking shelter.
