A wildfire that broke out on the outskirts of Marbella on Monday evening has been extinguished.
The inferno sent thick smoke billowing across the area near the Jardines Colgantes urbanisation.
According to Marbella Town Hall, the fire was tackled with the assistance of local firefighters and regional wildfire specialists from INFOCA.
A sergeant, a corporal and five firefighter-drivers from Marbella were deployed to the scene, alongside a member of Civil Protection.
Authorities said the blaze started in an area of dry vegetation close to a water reservoir, where fencing works were being carried out.

Initial investigations indicate the fire was sparked during those works.
Images shared by the town hall showed flames rapidly spreading through tinder-dry grass and scrubland, producing large plumes of smoke as crews worked to contain the blaze.
The operation involved a light urban fire engine, a heavy forest fire appliance, a water tanker, a logistics vehicle and a command unit.
The incident comes as much of Andalucia remains on alert for extreme temperatures, with parts of the region expected to exceed 40C this week, significantly increasing the risk of wildfires.
