A homicide investigation has been launched after a 21-year-old man was found dead in a swimming pool in Malaga on Monday morning.
The homicide unit of the Policia Nacional has taken over the probe following the grim discovery at a private villa.
The corpse was found at around 8am at the property on Calle Almendros, El Palo.
The person who called the 112 emergency hotline said the young man was ‘not responding’.
Local Police and paramedics were immediately dispatched to the home.
The Policia Nacional subsequently took over the case, with its homicide specialists now investigating what happened.
No further details about the victim nor the circumstances surrounding his death have been released.
Investigators are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination, which could help establish the cause of death.
The discovery comes just a day after another man was found unconscious in a swimming pool elsewhere in Malaga province.
A 58-year-old man died on Sunday after being discovered in the water at a rural property near Camino de Corca in Competa.
Other people at the property had pulled him from the pool before emergency services arrived, but paramedics were unable to save him.
The circumstances surrounding that death also remain unclear.
