One of Sevilla’s most anticipated hotel openings is now taking bookings ahead of its debut later this year, transforming a landmark building that has stood empty for more than two decades.
The new Thompson Sevilla will open on November 1, 2026, inside the former Gavidia Policia Nacional headquarters in Plaza de la Concordia, bringing the international luxury brand to Andalucia for the first time.
The building, which closed as a police station 23 years ago, has long been one of the city’s most recognisable unused properties.
After years of debate over its future, it has now been reimagined as a five-star hotel with 101 rooms.
Inspired by Andalucian design
Rather than opting for a conventional luxury-hotel aesthetic, the project has been designed to reflect local materials and traditions.
Guest rooms feature natural wood finishes and warm earthy colours inspired by Andalucia, while bathrooms are decorated with deep green glazed tiles that pay homage to traditional ceramic craftsmanship.

Throughout the hotel, modern touches are combined with original architectural elements, including exposed brickwork, timber screens and restored glass-block walls that allow natural light to flow through the interiors.
Rooftop pool and fine dining
The hotel aims to become a destination for both visitors and locals.
Facilities will include a rooftop bar with a swimming pool overlooking the city skyline, a fine-dining restaurant, coworking spaces and a fully equipped gym.
The rooftop is expected to be one of the hotel’s biggest attractions, offering views across Sevilla’s historic centre.
How much does it cost?
Reservations are already open for stays from November.
The most affordable room currently available starts at around €270 per night for a standard king room.
Prices rise depending on room size and views, with city-view rooms costing from €285 and panoramic-view options from around €301 per night.
Guests looking for a more premium experience can choose from the hotel’s Deluxe category, where rates begin at approximately €316 per night and rise to €377 for the top-tier panoramic rooms.
The opening marks the latest stage in the regeneration of Plaza de la Concordia and gives new life to one of Sevilla’s most iconic modernist buildings.
