Parts of Malaga, Granada and Almeria have been placed under yellow weather alerts this Friday due to strong winds and rough coastal conditions.
The warnings will remain active from 4am on Friday, May 15, with several coastal areas expected to be battered by westerly and southwesterly winds of up to 60km/h, while some parts of Almeria could see gusts reaching 70km/h.
The affected areas on the Costa del Sol include Malaga city and the Axarquia coastline, as well as the Guadalhorce and western Costa del Sol areas.
Aemet has also issued coastal alerts covering the Granada coast and large stretches of Almeria’s coastline, including Poniente, Almeria capital and the Levante region.
Forecasters are warning of force 7 winds at sea, with waves expected to reach up to three metres along parts of the Almeria and Granada coastlines.
The yellow alerts for coastal conditions are expected to remain in place until either 9.59pm or 11.59pm on Friday depending on the area, while the wind warnings for parts of Almeria are set to expire at 8.59pm.
Drivers are being urged to take extra care on exposed roads, especially along coastal routes and higher ground where gusts could be stronger.

Beachgoers and anyone planning activities at sea have also been advised to exercise caution due to rough conditions and strong currents.
The warnings come as unstable spring weather continues to affect parts of southern Spain heading into the weekend.
