The punishing terral wind will keep temperatures soaring along the Costa del Sol on Monday, meteorologists have warned.
State weather agency Aemet has once again issued an orange alert for the coast and Guadalhorce Valley, warning of highs of 41C, particularly in more inland areas.
The warning is in place from 1pm and until 8.59pm.
The orange alert covers much of the Costa del Sol, including areas around Marbella, while the Axarquia remains under a yellow warning, with temperatures expected to reach 38C.
Elsewhere in Andalucia, yellow heat alerts have been issued across parts of Almeria, where highs of 37C to 38C are forecast in the Levante, Nacimiento and Campo de Tabernas, and Valle del Almanzora and Los Velez regions.
The warning comes after the Costa del Sol endured another sweltering weekend.
Health authorities advise people to avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day, stay well hydrated and never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles.
It comes as a red alert for extreme wildfire risk is currently active in several parts of Andalucia.
In post on X on Sunday, INFOCA warned that Malaga’s coast, the Guadalquivir Valley and easternmost parts of Andalucia are at a ‘very high’ risk of forest fires.
INFOCA reminded residents that the highest level of fire risk brings strict restrictions aimed at preventing wildfires.
These include a ban on lighting fires or carrying out activities that could ignite vegetation, leaving marked roads or tracks in forest areas, and throwing cigarette butts or other burning objects from vehicles.
