A 28-year-old man has died after being stabbed in the chest in Malaga’s troubled Palma-Palmilla district, with police now investigating the killing as murder.
The victim had been fighting for his life at Hospital Regional de Malaga since Saturday evening but has now succumbed to his injuries.
According to Spain’s emergency services, the stabbing took place at around 8pm on Calle Concejal Pedro Ruiz Garcia.
Witnesses alerted 112 after a man was found seriously injured with at least one stab wound to the thorax.
Policia Nacional officers and paramedics rushed to the scene, where the victim received emergency treatment before being transferred to hospital in a mobile intensive care ambulance.
Police confirmed on Sunday morning that the man had died from his injuries.
Policia Nacional have launched a full investigation to identify and locate whoever carried out the attack.
No arrests have yet been made.
According to local reports, investigators are exploring whether the killing could be linked to social media activity and an alleged dispute connected to a rental property.
However, police stress that the investigation remains ongoing and no official motive has yet been confirmed.
The latest killing comes amid growing concerns over violence in Palma-Palmilla, one of Malaga’s most deprived districts.
Just weeks ago, the neighbourhood was rocked by a shooting incident after residents reported hearing gunfire in the early hours of the morning.
That attack marked the third shooting in Malaga city within less than a week.
Bullets struck the facade of a residential building, with officers later discovering shell casings and ballistic fragments at the scene, although nobody was injured.
