A popular sushi restaurant in Sevilla has sparked debate after introducing a controversial rule aimed at tackling excessive eating at its all-you-can-eat buffet.
Sushi Toro, located in Gelves near Sevilla, has warned customers that they could face an extra charge if they vomit after overeating – a measure the business says is necessary after a rise in extreme cases.
The restaurant, known for its Japanese buffet offering priced between €16.90 and €23.90 depending on the day and time, says the decision comes after repeated incidents involving diners consuming more than they can handle.
A sign displayed inside the venue states that if a customer ‘vomits due to having eaten too much’, the restaurant reserves the right to apply a cleaning surcharge.
In a message shared on social media, the establishment explained the reasoning behind the move.
‘We’ve had many customers who keep ordering and eating until they can’t anymore – to the point of vomiting,’ the post said.

Staff reported that in some cases, people have been sick both at tables and in bathrooms, creating hygiene and operational challenges for the restaurant.
According to Sushi Toro, the measure is not about penalising customers, but about maintaining standards for everyone.
‘We make a big effort to deliver orders on time and maintain good hygiene,’ they said, adding that repeated incidents were affecting both staff and other diners.
The restaurant has urged customers to act responsibly and only order what they can reasonably eat.
‘Please collaborate with us, because this also affects other customers in the dining room,’ the message added.
