A 17-year-old tourist has been left with serious injuries after being mowed down in Malaga city centre.
A 30-year-old is accused of deliberately running the boy over with his car following an argument in Plaza de la Merced in the early hours of July 15.
The teenager was rushed to hospital and had to have surgery.
According to the Policia Nacional, the suspect and the victim did not know each other before becoming involved in an argument shortly before the attack.
Investigators say the boy had just left a restaurant when he was initially struck by a car in what appeared to be a minor collision.
An argument then broke out between the driver, who was alone in the vehicle, and the teenager.
Witnesses told police that the driver then reversed his car before positioning it towards the victim and allegedly accelerated into him deliberately.
The vehicle’s left wheels reportedly ran over one of the teenager’s legs before the driver fled the scene.
The victim was rushed to hospital, where he underwent surgery after suffering a fractured fibula.
Officers from Malaga’s Centro District Police Station launched an investigation, gathering witness statements and identifying the vehicle involved before tracing the suspect.
He has now been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuries using a motor vehicle.
