Grupo Melia is set to open the first five-star hotel in the city of Cadiz next year.
The chain’s new boutique property, Casa Alameda 1760, is expected to welcome guests from January 1, 2027.
The hotel will join the luxury Melia Collection and is being created across two historic buildings overlooking the Alameda Apodaca.
Casa Alameda 1760 will feature around 40 rooms, a rooftop swimming pool, spa, gym and meeting rooms, while some suites will include private Andalucian courtyards and separate lounges.
Room rates for the opening week are currently listed at between €221 and €344 per night.
The development combines the 18th-century Baroque Casa Recaño palace, commissioned in 1760 by the Marchioness of Casa Recaño, with a neighbouring late 18th-century Isabeline-style building on Calle Zorrilla.
The two properties will be connected through the former Anteojo tavern.
Melia said the interior design has been created by IQ Home, incorporating local craftsmanship by Noelia Pascual, while the hotel’s culinary offering will focus on southern Spanish cuisine.
The opening marks another milestone for Cadiz’s growing luxury tourism sector, although two other five-star developments remain on hold.
Barcelo’s planned luxury hotel at the former railway complex has been delayed by administrative issues linked to the Plaza de Sevilla redevelopment, while a separate five-star grand luxury hotel planned for the former Puerto America site is still awaiting approval.
