Scores of trees have once again been toppled across Andalucia on Monday as Storm Leonardo blows through the region.
In Sevilla, there were around a dozen road closures due to trees blocking roads after being uprooted by strong winds of up to 70km/hr.
In Antequera, Malaga, one large tree fell on several vehicles, completely crushing at least one.
Fortunately, no one was in the cars at the time. Elsewhere, in the same town, another large tree collapsed right outside a restaurant entrance, but fortunately just missed hitting the building.
The Malaga firefighters’ consortium said in a statement: ‘Our officers from Antequera responded to a report of two fallen trees in the Cortijo San Benito area, within the same municipality.
‘One large tree fell on several vehicles, causing significant damage to one of them; the other fell at the entrance to a restaurant.
‘We proceeded to cut down and remove the tree at the entrance and clear the branches of the other to free some cars.’
It added: ‘The Policia Nacional, along with the restaurant owner, indicated that they would take charge of the tree trunk that fell on the most damaged vehicle while the insurance company completes the necessary procedures.’
