This is the tense moment a car burst into flames next to a petrol pump in Fuengirola on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred at a Galp garage in the area of Los Pacos.
There were serious fears that the flames could cause a huge explosion if they spread to the site’s petrol reserves.
Footage shared by the authorities showed firefighters hosing down the car to put out the inferno.
Fuengirola town hall said: ‘Crews from Local Police and Fuengriola Fire Department have extinguished an accidental fire involving a vehicle in Los Pacos tonight.
‘The incident has been fully controlled, without personal damage or affect to the gas station, recording only material damage to the car itself.
‘Right now firefighters are performing the latest safety checks.
‘Thanks to the quick response of emergency services, major damage has been avoided.’
