Sevilla Airport has expanded its international network with the launch of a new direct route to a French gem.
It has also increased services to Berlin, Milan Malpensa and Amsterdam, strengthening the airport’s status as one of the fastest-growing aviation hubs in southern Europe.
The new French connection is with the city of Lyon, in eastern France.
The service between the two cities stopped several years ago, but has now been restored in the hopes that it will boost tourism on either end.
Routes to Berlin, Milan, and Amsterdam, already served by other carriers, are being bolstered with additional frequencies and increased capacity.
This move improves travel flexibility and further cements Sevilla’s links to some of Europe’s most popular destinations.
The first flight from Berlin touched down on Monday at 11.30am, following the earlier launches of the Lyon and Milan routes on Sunday.
The new Amsterdam connection also began on Monday. Each route will operate with two weekly flights, including throughout the upcoming summer season.
Tickets for summer dates are expected to go on sale in the coming weeks.
With these additions, Sevilla Airport has gained more than 80,000 extra seats this winter and now offers a total of 200,000 seats, marking a 58% increase compared to the same period last year.
