A forest fire that broke out in inland Malaga on Thursday night has been stabilised.

The inferno in Monda was declared by Andalucia’s firefighting service at 9.15pm on Thursday.

Andalucia’s firefighting service INFOCA reported that the blaze was brought under control shortly after 4am Friday.

There were fears of the inferno becoming serious due to it being in an area that is difficult to access.

It came after an expat-run dog centre said it is evacuating its animals as a precaution.

The JSM Dog Centre said in a post on Facebook: ‘We are preparing for evacuation. We will keep you updated.

‘And as soon as we are evacuated we will contact all owners. We need the mobile free so please don’t call.’

Marbella town hall said in a statement that it was sending firefighters to help fight the blaze.

It wrote: ‘Marbella Fire Department personnel have been deployed to Monda to assist in extinguishing the fire that broke out in the municipality.’
