British tourists have been blamed for the mountains of trash left strewn across the party strip of Tenerife.

A TikTok video by user @experienceaddict shows how roads in the resort of Playas de las Americas are covered by smashed alcohol bottles, beer cans and McDonald’s packaging each morning.

The travel influencer captured the video: ‘Brits abroad have ruined Tenerife… they have to employ LOADS of people to clean it up each morning.’

Locals commenting on the video jumped on the bandwagon to blame British tourists.

One wrote in Spanish: ‘Finally, a guiri telling the truth.’

‘Guiri’ is a slang term used by the Spanish to refer to northern European or American tourists – but mostly Brits.

Others commented asking how the poster of the video knew that Brits were responsible.

A local agreed, saying sometimes the strip has reggaeton events that attracts many locals.

However the poster added in a comment: ‘The reason why I said ‘Brits abroad’ is because legit all I could see and hear were Brits…

‘I doubt many people who live in Tenerife actually go to the strip because it is SO loud and dirty, reminds me of Benidorm.’
