THIS is the moment around 20 migrants were filmed landing on a protected beach in Andalucia.

The footage, shared on Instagram on Monday, shows the young men jumping out of small boat on the shores of Almeria.

The incident took place on Playa de los Muertos (Beach of the Dead), a protected area within the Cabo de Gata Natural Park.

It has sparked fury online, with locals demanding more action be taken to stop such arrivals.

Playa de Los Muertos is famed for its white sand and turquoise waters, and is believed to have got its name from pirates centuries ago, due to the fact that there were many shipwrecks off its coast.

The beauty spot is loved by tourists and expats alike, with the popular Mojacar resort nearby.

There are no facilities because the beach has protected status, meaning it is forbidden to be built on.

People are free to visit the beach but must be prepared for a challenging hike down to the shore and back, as it is located at the foot of a cliff.

Last year, around 61,300 irregular migrants arrived in Spain by sea, breaking a new record.

So far this year, numbers have not been as high, but there have been almost a dozen bodies – believed to be migrants – discovered washed up on beaches in the Balearic Islands.
