Two people have been killed after their car collided head-on with a lorry in Alhaurin de la Torre on Wednesday afternoon.
The fatal crash occurred at around 3.35pm on the A-7052, near Peñon Zapata, according to Malaga’s Traffic Control Centre.
Initial information indicates that the car entered the opposite lane before colliding head-on with the lorry.
The force of the impact left the vehicle completely destroyed, with firefighters called in to free its occupants from the wreckage.
Both people in the car died while the driver of the lorry was uninjured.
The A-7052 was closed to traffic at the scene following the collision.
Vehicles were being diverted via Avenida de las Americas in Alhaurin de la Torre while emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the crash.
The collision marks the second fatal road accident in Malaga province in a matter of hours.
Earlier on Wednesday, a 48-year-old man died in Antequera after the motorbike he was riding fell into an irrigation ditch on Camino de Los Almendros.
Emergency medical teams attended the scene but could only confirm his death.
